Between fen and mountains

Remembering the fires

It was only recently that there was a fire above the village. Although the helicopter dumped water on it, the firefighters had to spend two days extinguishing the fire that was still burning underground. That is particularly difficult when lightning strikes in inaccessible places. I read the other day that there is a fire in the States that has been burning underground for 60 years. Underground fires which smoulder on peat deposits are not uncommon. I had to have an emergency appointment at the dentist this morning after a tooth broke last night. I will need a new crown as the tooth has a little decay and the pins have come out. However, he has been able to put the old one back temporarily. The good news is that it will be mostly covered by the Social Security and my mutuelle insurance. Of the €750, I will only have to pay €3.99! I can live with that!
