Small business

I think the low point of my day was having to pop across to the Trafford Centre to collect Dan's Christmas present from John Lewis. That great temple to consumerism makes me feel a bit nauseous, if I'm honest.

And there's also something about those large stores tucked under one roof that makes my heart go out to the little guys, such as BOP DJ, whose poster I passed on the way to the office.

I take my hat off to anyone who opens a shop selling stuff that is readily available on the internet, perhaps the most extreme example being anyone who opens a bookshop, staring down the behemoth of Amazon.

The high point of my day, though, was going over to Chorlton with Hannah, this evening, to visit Charlie, who cooked dinner for us.
