The White Gym

We awoke feeling refreshed and very happy to be once again sleeping in our own bed. Travelling, especially when visiting family, is great, but so is coming home after 15 hours of travelling.
In our two weeks away the snow had been steadily falling on several days and there is now about 60cm of snow on the ground. As usual our neighbour had cleared a parking space and up to the house but there was plenty of snow clearing for us to do by hand.
The priorities were down to the cellar, so we could get in to wash our clothes, and the kayak tent, because our last one was destroyed by a huge snowfall.
I took the cellar and Jan started digging a path to the kayak tent. Once I got down to the cellar I joined her at the tent and together we worked our way around the edge, removing all the snow that had slid off the tent and was now pressing inwards. We worked in opposite directions and finally met up after a lot of work. This picture should be viewed together with Jan's blip because her picture shows how it was before we did the digging.
After the photo was taken we carefully removed snow from the roof of the tent, which meant we once more needed to dig around the perimeter.
After two and a half hours of this work the jobs were more or less complete and we went in for some well-earned lunch time porridge!
(I just published yesterday's blip of Gatwick airport.)
