The Downpour Continues

It’s endless – today the kind of rain that you wouldn’t even send a politician out in.  Today included a background noise of folk driving nails into wood.  Ark building has never been so frenzied.

Our big day out commenced with a visit to see my Mum; she has settled down well into her better appointed room.  She’s fairly picked up and has far more interest in everything.  We then  swam across to Stromness and went straight to the bookshop, which was closed.  Undeterred I bought some coffee from the Deli and we got a few messages from Argos.  Met Ian Johnstone and he was telling me he’s just back from Japan after his ninth visit – all work related.  Then a bonus as I resisted the strong urge to buy a hot beef and tattie roll as the Current Mrs Creel lured me into the Pierhead Café* for lunch.  The Pensioners’ Party (obviously still celebrating the announced 8% rise in pensions) is still going on and there’s been three back-to-back all-nighters included. Aileen (who was at school with CMC) spoke to us then Elaine Gunn.  On the way back to the now open bookshop I called in past to see Christine in the Cat Charity shop.  Obviously all of these names will come in handy for entrants of this end-of-year Creel HQ exam (past papers are available).  The invigilator has just left for Albuquerque.  A last minute bit of gossip centred on a whispered conversation that a long-married couple have fallen out with the Kirk.  One of the contributing factors was the sacrifice during the last communion.  Some folk have no tolerance.
