MINTY HOT CHOCOLATE WEATHER

Well another dreich wet day.  I needed to go into town just for a couple of things anyway, and being Saturday it is brunch day in Thyme Out (not every Saturday but fairly regular) so that trip would cheer us up despite the horrible weather.

Got into town by 10.30, we all did what we needed to do and then met up in Thyme Out for our Brunch.  Had a good chat with the staff who are always so friendly and helpful.

Heard stories that brings back your faith in humanity again.  One of the staff lives in Finsthwaite (up high between Newby Bridge and Hawkshead and got snowed in unexpectedly.  They had a couple of Americans staying in a holiday home opposite so she checked on them to see if they needed food and they were told they could call on her at any time.  She also looked after two elderly neighbours food-wise.

Then on the Wednesday, still knee deep in snow there, her children's school bus couldn't get up their hill but could get to Lakeside by the marina, so she walked her children down there, heavy going but they made it.  She then popped into the Lakeside Hotel to ask if she could use their toilet facilities and explained why.  No problem, and asked if she could buy a coffee.  She said they don't usually serve coffee to non-residents in the morning, but the Breakfast Manager said, no problem.  They invited her to sit where she wanted, was bought coffee  and hot pastries and when she offered to pay they refused, let her have it for free due to the weather and being local.  How lovely is all that.

Then as we left Thyme Out and walked on down to the station to pick up the papers the number of people we passed that chatted and were friendly - it just makes me realise how lucky I am to live in such a place, where community is still thriving.

G wanted a hot chocolate as he doesn't drink tea or coffee so I thought I would take a photo of the minty hot chocolate provided by Thyme Out, I did have a sip and it was delicious, a little sweet for me but once in a while well why not - he thoroughly enjoyed it.  So no other photos taken today and I thought a Minty Hot Chocolate might warm you all up.

Do take care everyone, stay safe and I will see you all tomorrow.
