Christmas at the Botanics 2023

Today it was all go in the hazelh household.

This morning I rode my exercise bike, made a curry, and went to my pilates class. Meanwhile Mr hazelh drove to Halfords to buy oil for the car, dealt with a couple of loads of washing, and went for a run. Then the pair of us (unusually) travelled by car to the supermarkets to buy (heavy) last minute supplies for our weekend partying.

After lunch I chamber-maided the spare bedroom, then made a fruit salad for pudding this evening. Meanwhile Mr hazelh worked in the kitchen making pastry for the pies and mini-quiches that we will be serving tomorrow night at our drinks party.

We were able to relax from the moment that Mr hazelh's sister Sam and her partner Alan arrived at about 3:30pm. We sat at the kitchen table chatting over tea and cake, then put on jackets, coats and hats for a trek around the wonderful light display at the Botanic Garden. My favourite exhibit was this display of dragonflies over the pond (blipped).

Back home again it was time to toast our guests and enjoy supper together at the kitchen table.

Exercise today: 30 minutes on the exercise bike; pilates class; walking (21,266 steps).
