Rainbow lorikeet in the callistemon

Today Sydney was boiling hot, 39C on our back verandah in the shade and 44C in western Sydney. It was really unpleasant, even though inside downstairs was a lot cooler. A poor excuse for a southerly change came over mid afternoon but I couldn't stay inside any longer. At least by then there was good cloud cover.

I wandered, camera at the ready, through some familiar streets, just in time for the descent of the rainbow lorikeets. They love chewing up the red native flora and the challenge is getting them in an instant when they're not moving. This one posed just long enough. It's SOOC too, apart from some cropping.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend and stay cool, or warm, as needed.
