Still a winter wonderland

This morning is again very, very cold. It really is amazing that it is still so beautiful. The snow still is attached to the branches of the trees three days after the storm. I think because it was raining and then turned to snow that the snow sort of froze to the branches and we haven't had wind so here we are. It's just amazing.

This morning when I was out taking care of the birds I had a close look at the snow. Every surface with snow had grown these amazing, huge snow crystals. It's not really a hoar frost as it wasn't on everything, just on the snow itself. So today's abstract is a closely cropped (if only I had a macro) of some snow. I had to put in a couple extras to show the full effect. It looked like the snow was furry!

My second extra is from this afternoon and taken with my phone. The sun was just beaming on this small patch of grass and the frost was beautiful. No melting today as we never got up to freezing.
