A Room With A View

We are very lucky to wake up every day and see the Christ The Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro from our window. We say ‘hello’ in the morning and ‘good night’ just before going to bed. En route here from Europe, given the hurley and burley of the departure and the Christmas attractions of Barcelona, we sometimes wonder why we do it. The answer comes the day after arrival when we wake up to an environment so different from our own but to which we are intimately connected at a local micro level. What a privilege, joy and, sometimes, shock to see life unfold first hand in this vast, nature-blessed and highly-challenged-on-many-fronts-but-still-marvellous country!
