Ffynnon Beuno Caves , Tremeirchion
TUESDAY
A much brighter day today and I went out on a short 3 km walk from home.
I walked up the lane to the north side of the Y Graig Nature Reserve from where there is a good view of the Ffynnon Beuno Caves (and the llamas which graze on the hillside).
The caves are listed as an Ancient Monument where archaeological deposits dating from the Palaeolithic period were found. The monument is deemed to be of national importance "for its potential to enhance our knowledge of prehistoric settlement, ritual and funerary practices".
The caves are just 600 metres from home as the crow flies
