Celebrating Finland’s independence

I was able to watch some of the President’s and his wife’s reception. 1,700 people were invited, from all walks of life. Starting with the now very elderly war veterans, politicians, artists, performers, writers, various sports representatives, teacher of the year, nurse of the year etc etc. Every one dressed in fancy clothes. The traditional way to commemorate the day is to light two candles in a window.
