The Wide Black Yonder...
No, it's not our place... we're still a dark house.
I've taken several shots of this place at the top of the village over the years - and I think the decorations are multiplying! We have however bought a tree.
Having looked at the various offerings at warehouses that cost an amount I would once have had a good weekend away with, we visited the local lordship's place and picked up one of his mis-shapes for much much less.
Trees all have a shape, and although our consumerist culture demands a perfectly conical tree, we've gone with the arboreal equivalent of the corner grocer and his amusingly wonky veg.
I enjoy the midwinter lights. They are, after all, all about surviving the darkness. But we're in a landscape of rising energy bills, and we need to survive those too.
