Duthchas
We showed the excellent and very moving Gaelic documentary Duthchas at the monthly Kyles Community Cinema and were lucky enough to have the film's co-director Andy Mackinnon with us to talk about it. .
I have seen the film twice before but it had a particular power when being seen in the company of an audience from a small rural community which is more than aware of the pressures of marginality nd the nature of change.
This still is from a the wedding of Splash and Gloria in Berneray - people I used to stay with when showing films on the island - and the setting is the garden of Newton House Hotel, which was where Cathleen grew up.
So it is "home" - Duthchas - in every sense of the word.
