Here and Now

By Mole

Pre-Op

Mr Mole met the surgical staff, one-by-one. Here, the surgeon’s Physician’s Assistant (named Jackson Brown, really!) is explaining some of what we can expect after surgery. When he was rolled down the hall, Mr Mole was outfitted with white knee-high compression socks and those yellow non-skid hospital socks, a flowing gown open in back that shows all if you’re not careful, an IV, and his blue hospital cap. All of the staff were friendly to us and serious about their work, actually cheerful about helping my guy.

I’m posting this from home where I can rest in a much less germy environment and cuddle with Chester. I get text updates as things happen. The surgery is expected to take 4 hours, then 1 1/2 hours recovery, and if he’s in luck, a room will be available right after that. I can’t see him again until he’s in his room later tonight.
