Advent Crown.

The vicar of the parish just before our children were born introduced the concept of an Advent Crown.  It made a good countdown through Advent to Christmas.  There are 5 candles one for each Sunday in Advent in Advent and one for Christmas day.  We adopted the idea for a table decoration.  Yesterday we lit the first candle (I lit this one just for the photo).   When not on the dining table it has wires for hanging.

The Christian symbolism is:

Greenery to represent the earth.
Red ribbons (hanging below the candles): the blood of Jesus.
White candle: the Light of The World, to be lit on Christmas day.
