These are Spotted Whistling Ducks (Dendrocygna guttata); This duck can be found in Indonesia, New Guinea, Australia and the Philippines. This pair lives at the zoo in Milwaukee.

Non-threatened. Its diet consists of grass seeds, aquatic invertebrates and plants as well as small fish.

Might not be exactly the type of "layers" you had in mind....but there's no doubt that they are "true layers" along with all other birds, platypus and echidna.
