High kicks and covid jabs...
D, Alan and I headed to Perth this morning for our flu and covid jabs. We travelled separately, Alan went with Penny, as we were heading off to do different things afterwards.
When we arrived a nurse explained they couldn't give Alan his jabs as we didn't have a completed form regarding adults with incapacity. We've never been asked for this before. We always have proof that we are his legal welfare guardians and this is usually enough. This is proof that we have been legally appointed to make decisions on his behalf regarding his welfare. It's what was needed when he had major surgery in 2016 but apparently not enough for a covid and flu jab. The nurse kept talking about Power of Attorney. This is not what is needed in our situation. She was very apologetic and of course it's not her fault, but the NHS need to get their act together and make sure their staff have the right information.
On the plus side she also said that he is entitled to have his jabs at home and was annoyed we've not been informed of this. So, we were vaccinated but we will have to speak to a GP on Monday about this other form.
Once jabbed we went for a wander in Perth. Lots of festive goings on. It was the Christmas parade later in the day and roads were closing so didn't hang around too long as didn't want to get caught up in that.
Popped into a few shops including M&S food hall. Miraculously, despite great temptation, we stuck rigidly to the short shopping list. Tesco delivery coming tomorrow morning. Went for lunch to Gillies furniture store. They have a fabulous cafe on the top floor. Food good and lovely staff. When we left there the stage was set outside Perth Concert Hall and these dancers were just about to begin their routine. Blip sorted :-)
Home and a fairly early dinner as D is singing at a Christmas charity do in Glasgow tonight. Meanwhile I've completed the Tesco order, snoozed, watched Strictly, snoozed, gone over my Christmas list (I'm getting there :-) snoozed, chatted with my friend Fiona in New Zealand who has given me the wonderful news that she is moving back to Scotland next April. I am over the moon. She's been down under over 30 years!
Oh, and about three hours ago I noticed my right arm was very itchy. Rolled up my sleeve to discover red raised patches on my lower arm that looked like hives. Google search tells me that hives seems to be a noted reaction to the current covid jab. oh joy. I've taken an antihistamine and it's helped. Here's hoping that's the end of it!
