Today I phoned the school and asked that Rory be let out early tomorrow. I explained that I was taking him to a cultural event with singing and dancing. The socio-economic policy of the USA would be discussed, as well as the demise of the American car manufacturing base. Foreign policy and teenage angst will also be highlighted. I just hope the head teacher sees the joke when he appears on Wednesday wearing a Bruce Springsteen t shirt...
