One last chance to see a flamenco show this evening. It came highly recommended by guiri and F, and they weren't wrong. It's one of the best shows I've seen here; everything about it was fantastic. Dancer Paola Almodóvar is from Almuñecar, and the Casa de la Cultura was packed to the rafters with fans.

Happily, we were in row two, which gave us a great view of the whirling skirts and stamping feet. She was inexhaustible. And the rapport with the musicians was amazing too. This is the first time I've seen a female guitarist at one of these shows, Erika González from Uruguay, and she is excellent. As her fingers flew over the strings she constantly fixed her eyes on Paola, and you could feel the connection flowing between them. You can hear a sample of her playing here. I couldn't find any good videos of Paola, but you can try this Facebook video. And finally singer Alicia Morales was great too -- I don't always enjoy flamenco singing but she has a powerful voice and can be subtle as well as loud.

I was too enthralled to take many photos, and didn't want to disturb the more contemplative parts of the show, so here is Paola in a foot-stomping big skirt and big shawl moment -- it's not sharp, but I like the energy. A few more right from here.
