Finsthwaite Tower

A brisk and warming walk up through beautifully frosty woods to Finsthwaite Tower after a chilly 7.9°C swim in Windermere. The renovations are finished and the owners have locked up the tower. I was lucky to visit in 2021 ascend the fancy new stairs inside.  There's a keysafe at the back. We tried lots of combinations based on the dates of the battles commemorated at the site to no avail
