Advent
A few years ago I did an advent with the kids. One small gift a day December 01 until Christmas. Colby wasn’t as into it as Kaylee was. I took a break from it last year and Kaylee was devastated. Knowing she’s most likely going to be in her own house next Christmas, I thought I’d surprise her with an Advent again this year.
She woke this morning and we were talking in the kitchen. I said “I have a surprise for you in the living room”. It took her but a few seconds to realize and then the smile and “Yay!!” with a bright eyed, high pitch squeal of excitement. Made my day!
The gifts aren’t expensive… small items. Things like stocking stuffers. But it brings joy and isn’t that what the season is all about?
BJ’s recovery continues. Today, day three, was tough. No prescription meds has left him rotating doses of IBU and Tylenol. His stomach is now a mess and the pain isn’t subsiding with the OTC meds. He is now wishing he pushed harder for Rx pain relief. I am hoping tomorrow is better. Usually day three is the worst, for any surgery. The mouth pain is still a real issue, and the splints in the nostrils. Will it be worth it in the end? I hope so. I hate to see him struggling.
