After yesterday evening’s light covering of snow we awoke to find a beautiful snowy scene with all the trees and shrubs covered in snow which never melted all day.  This photo was taken this afternoon before a blizzard about twenty minutes later.  Nearby a snowplough had cleared the snow to the side of the road on the steeper slopes presumably because it serves as a section of a main bus route to the Borders but fortunately there is very little traffic so it was easy to walk on the road. The next part was along a little road with great views especially to the north and west and across the sea towards Fife.  Surprisingly there seemed to be no snow towards Edinburgh or on Arthur’s Seat or visible in Fife yet we have had almost three centimetres and the path which S cleared this morning now has a fresh layer which is sparkling in the frost.  It sounds as if we live in the wilds but we don’t and are not far from Edinburgh.   After clearing their car our guests drove very gingerly down to the main road with no snow about three miles away.  We were fortunate that we could enjoy the sight of the snow without having to drive in it
