Wish lists

Sitting in the dentist waiting room this morning, one woman had a grumble about the wish lists she had just received from her student family. They include a couple of ipads.
 
“So I sent it back and told them not in their wildest dreams, and to send another list.”
 
I mention this later to a friend and I am surprised at her reaction. She doesn’t think the requests are unreasonable.
 
Am I out of touch?  Are presents these days up into three figures?
