World War II Fortifications

These great big concrete blocks are located at the entrance to Tyninghame Beach and were no doubt used to deter enemy aircraft
from landing there. I have never quite understood why they were like fluted columns unless this was to enable them to be manoeuvred over rough ground more easily.
