Another view of the castle, from the West. I think it looks like a Proper Castle, none of these fancy-dan windows, or anything; just 3m thick walls and some crenellations :)
You can see the entrance (there is a postern or sea-gate at the opposite corner) where there used to be a Proper Drawbridge (they later built a causeway across the end of the moat). The other "ground-level" hole in the wall is for a garderobe, or cludgie. The original walls are 13th century, but the crenellations are 2 or 3 centuries later. There's lots more (not necessarily entirely accurate) info in a blog that a local enthusiast is writing.
