The accidental finding

Misty and murky

Another day at the office. Some people I can help, some I can't. An addict told me I was only wasting his time if I couldn't get him any drugs and that he'd have to go and buy some heroin on the street. Then I went up to a community centre (really didn't want to go because it was cold out, and there was a man walking up the drive who kept doubling over as if he was about to be sick. My compassion store is empty).

The client I was supposed to meet there did not turn up. They had forgotten. It was my turn to have my  time wasted. Caught bus back to office. My colleague had obtained a £200 grant to buy someone a fridge and microwave. I found the items at at the right price at  Curry's. Then the grant awarding body said the approval would have to go through Barnardo's, and Barnardo's said, Not Us!.because there were no children involved. So it goes on.

I had to move all my files, leaflets, laptop etc. for tomorrow into the other office before I left. Still managed to catch the bus home, and met my student, S. He gave me an electronic ticket with three journeys left on it. Probably felt sorry for me with my olde worlde paper bus pass

I spent the evening trying to sort out money, and wondering how I'd managed to spend so much in November. Travel money, earbuds and face cream, that's how. Some days you eat the bear. Some days the bear eats you (Joan Armatrading).
