Cinnabar Moth

It certainly has been a day for blip opportunities.

Another hover fly was in the kitchen this morning, so I photographed him before putting him back outside; several honey bees and flies; an abundance of flowers; and a goose guarding his partner and their young.

As we strolled back home with Oscar this afternoon, I spotted this beautifully coloured moth resting amongst the leaves.

Having researched it, it seems it's a Cinnabar Moth - named after the red mineral 'cinnabar' because of the red patches on its predominantly black wings.
