Flash Macro

I have a speedlight which I rarely use. 
Inspired by davidc, I pulled it out the other day to experiment with macro flash photography. The settings are not user friendly but after some study of the manual and youtube I've got it working.
I had always thought the 1/60 shutter speed with flash would be too slow to use hand held with the sensitive macro lens but of course the effective exposure time is much shorter. I had never thought about that!
I can see myself making more use of it now :-)
