Old Boiler

We have chosen what is probably the coldest week of the year to have our gas boiler replaced. Although it's over 20 years old, the existing Worcester Bosch 24CDi combination boiler was still going strong and trouble-free but we have had the gas fitter booked for two months and need to press ahead.

The old boiler, when new, had an efficiency rating of 78.1% whereas the new replacement (Worcester Bosch Greenstar 8000) has a rating of 94%. Combined with more control of the heating with a new Hive thermostat and Hive wi-fi valves on most of the radiators we should hopefully see a reduction in our LPG consumption.

Tonight, and possibly tomorrow we are reliant on the gas fire and some plug-in electric heaters and are having to boil a kettle for hot water.
