Harbour View
Out along to the bus at 2pm and the harbour looked very serene. I must remember that I have a boat tied up there and go for a sail some day. Some day. In some ways it’s quite enough just to have it.
We were off to the Cameo to watch Tish, about the Tyneside photographer Tish Murtha who documented working class lives in the late 70s and early 80s - notably the lives of kids playing out on the streets. The film is a labour of love by her daughter Ella as Tish died ten years ago. There are hints about her uncompromising character, which probably didn’t serve her well; she even fell out with the Side Gallery who had been her early sponsor. A sad little tale, but there’s a superb collection of her photos now in the Tate’s permanent collection.
And outside the film who was standing waiting for his bus but AK, my one time Uni flatmate. I was just thinking about you this morning, he said. That's always a worry for the superstitious. My granny used to dream about people. Invariably they soon popped it. That's the way things were if you were born in the 80s. The 1880s.
