Teamwork…

…makes the dream work!

We went back to UBC for a basketball game last night, for the first time in over two years. We have been part of the basketball program there, as players, coaches and fans, since we were students, so the last two years was a void in that sense.

It was a special evening because it was a homecoming type of event and there were many old acquaintances in attendance so it was a great reunion. It was futile to focus on the game,

The first picture is of the Premier of our province, with his daughter on his shoulder, who stands 6’7”, doing the ceremonial first toss to begin the game. He also puts into perspective how tall some of these young ladies are.

The game, despite all of the distractions, was very good. The teams are very well coached. The players on both teams are skillful, incredibly athletic and play a ‘team’ game. It was also a rivalry game: UBC vs. their nearest rival University of Victoria.

The second picture shows how unified the UBC team is. On every stoppage of play, the team came together to congratulate a good play, or if the play was an error of some kind, to say ‘it’s OK’, or ‘we’ll get the the next one’. Basically, ‘we are are a team, and we always have each others back!’ And the smiles speak to how much fun they are having.

Regardless of the result, UBC won, they are already a great team!
