She looked kinda mucky, so I turned it to B/W - faster than a wash, which I can do at any time.
I wondered why 1597? - checked - found "John Greenhalgh of Brandlesholme in Elton, Bury, Lancs. (b. bef. 1597 - d. 16 Sep 1651 Isle of Man), was appointed gov. of the Isle of Man in 1640, and held this position during the English Civil War."
He must have been a helluva fellah, for them to commemorate him in such a way above and beyond any other of their "Gaffer"s.
