So Much No

The local Oxfam's games shelf.  There are times when I fully understand the all-too-pervasive opinion that board games are rubbish.

The creation, and playing, of mass market games and 'enthusiast' games are worlds that could not be further apart - which feels really quite weird for a product that essentially takes the same form. 

Newspapers and magazines have a similar spread from carp to erudite I'd guess, but they tend to be somewhat less 'binary' than it seems to be in boardgames.  There are very very few games that manage to span the gap.

Thankfully, we're into a 'proper' boardgames weekend tonight.
