Red Pike & Crummock from High Stile

Forecast said it would be sunny at Buttermere, so we drove over there early. The tops were all shrouded in cloud as we parked, but as we were there, we thought we'd best walk. We set out to walk Red Pike, High Stile and High Crag, and as we walked across the end of Buttermere, the clouds lifted and the sky cleared.

The photo shows the scree covered ridge to the top of Red Pike - it's slippery and loose underfoot - one of the tougher tops!

We had a superb day - and even at the end of the walk when we dropped back down to Lake level, the water was flat calm.
