Into the abyss ?

Article 1 of the Dutch Constitution:
'Allen die zich in Nederland bevinden, worden in gelijke gevallen gelijk behandeld. Discriminatie wegens godsdienst, levensovertuiging, politieke gezindheid, ras, geslacht of op welke grond dan ook, is niet toegestaan.'

Translation: All who reside in The Netherlands will be treated equally in equal situations. Discrimination because of religion, philosophy, political disposition, race, gender or whatever other grounds is not allowed.

Yet almost one in every 4 voters in The Netherlands yesterday has voted for a party and party leader who has been spouting hate against foreigners for almost 17 years now and who for example has in his party program the banning of one particular religion, its religious books, its places of worship and its schools.  Something which is totally against the Dutch Constitution.

It's such a shambles and a terrible disgrace. I am so ashamed of the apparent normalising of xenophobia and fear of 'foreigners'.
