Traditional Porridge

Backblipping

We cooked traditional porridge of barley in the oven. It's traditional, because barley had been most available of grains. Have done it only few times before, years ago. My mother has made it almost all of her life, since she was a young girl almost to these days.

Wikipedia tells about this porridge:
"Barley porridge made in the oven is the original and ancient version of Finnish Christmas porridge. In the past, porridge had to be cooked from grains, because it was believed that flours would bring a bad year. Porridge of grains, on the other hand, guaranteed a good harvest."
