Our very last day
This morning I went for one last look at the wildflowers near Dolno Draglishte. The views from the meadow I chose were stunning. It was a quick walk back to the hotel - took longer than I expected - and just time to have a drink and clamber into the bus for Sofia.
We had 4 hours in the centre of the city, starting with the open air antiques and craft market. I bought a wooden toy. It's a little man who bangs the drum when you pull on a string. We saw the Russian church which is undergoing renovation. Despite this a service was in progress and the tiny choir produced spine tingling sounds.
The Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is an imposing structure and surprisingly modern, built between 1882 and 1912. It is rather gloomy inside and showing a lot of signs of wear.
Soon we started to see wedding parties. This was my favourite. The bride was in the front seat of a Dodge car and the groom behind her. The girl on the right of the picture may have been the bridesmaid or it may have been a joint wedding. She and her partner followed the bridal car on a vintage motorcycle decorated with white balloons.
Our flight at 2130 was on time and we eventually arrived, rather tired, at Manchester Airport. It's been a great holiday.
