The Noisy One

We live really close to a big hospital, and its helipad is only about 100 metres away - just behind the yellowish house in this picture. 

When we moved here in 2015, we didn’t hear or see many emergency helicopters (mostly on weekends and only in daylight), but now they fly much more frequently and also at night. There are three different helicopters that use this helipad, and this is the noisiest one of them. Sometimes it flies so low over our house that the windows are vibrating, and all cats run and hide in the cellar.

I‘m not going to complain about people’s lives being saved, but I am looking forward to next year. The hospital will then move into a new building, with a brand new helipad on its roof. 

But there’s a downside, too.: They are planning to build a number of apartment houses for their employees, on the site of the old helipad, and we might have to cope with different noise then.
