Gullane Beach
Today I met a friend for a long overdue catch-up over a icecream sundae. Afterwards, we decided to work off some of the calories by walking from the Aberlady Bay Nature Reserve to Gullane Point, all of 1.5 miles.
We crossed a wooden footbridge and along a path which led to a tunnel of sea-buckthorn bushes and emerged on to open heathland. Eventually, the path led us past a links golf course and towards a hill of sand dunes. Once over the top of the dunes we were presented with the glorious view across Gullane Bay, an expanse golden sand as far as the eye could see in both directions. The sand was perfectly soft and golden and the beach was virtually deserted with the exception of a family game of cricket enjoyed by 4 people. We spent some time enjoying the beauty of the bay and eventually decided to make our way home.
All in all, a lovely afternoon.
