The past couple of nights when Joe and I were hiking, we noticed lots of these yellow flowers. They are composites with all disk flowers, Senecio?. In any case, I noticed that 99% of the flowers have a beetle like the one pictured firmly implanted into the disk and over 50% have one of the delicate flies.

In tonight's news, Joe found a coyote again. I did not have the camera ready to record the encounter. They were both trotting around a big rock (from opposite side), met each other, did double takes. immediately reversed course and ran away from each other. Joe appears not to be a coyote fan.

Today, I am grateful for the day I was given, happy co-workers, and orange juice.
