Home Sweet Home
Having had our flight last Wednesday cancelled because of French air traffic controllers, we got up at 3.45am to get our rearranged flight from Malaga to Toulouse at 7am. All went well until we got to the long term car park at Toulouse where our car had sat for six weeks - on a flat rear offside tyre.
The temperature was already up to 23C when I got down on hands and knees to jack up the car and change the wheel for the "temporary" wheel provided with the car - a feeble looking thing which warned against driving it at speeds of anything over 80 kph.
So a 2-hour motorway drive home turned into a 3-hour crawl in temperatures that were now pushing 30C. And I couldn't help feeling that the fates were somehow trying to prevent my return. Well, they failed. The house was waiting for us, bathed in glorious sunshine and surrounded by luxuriant greenery.
And guess what - it felt good to be back!
