Family Photo
This morning we had a beautiful breakfast of fresh baguettes (local bakery) with avocado, (homemade) mayo and bacon, then got this big family photo before people started dispersing.
My Aunt, Cousin A and my Cousin E's daughter went up to see a landmark called the Three Sisters, three rocky pinnacles with a spectacular view out over the mountains (see extra, which includes my Aunt who is missing from the main image as she was holding the camera). We then went along to Leura and had a wander round the pretty little town centre, and stopped for a drink.
Next we piled back in the car and headed back down the mountain to my Aunt's house. It's in a very pretty Sydney suburb, right across the road from a National Park, and in an area just full of beautiful greenery and trees, many with spectacular purple/blue flowers. We went for a lovely 6km walk in the nature reserve, part of which was along the banks of a brackish creek known as a breeding ground for bull sharks. Swimming, or even paddling is completely forbidden, and people have been attacked and died there in the past! We didn't see any sharks, but did see a cockatoo and some big lizards.
My Aunt takes in guests from all over the world - some stopping in for a few days AirBnB style, some staying for months or even years, and it was nice to meet some of them over dinner. Cousin A had made a truly spectacular Moussaka!
Just as I was about to go to bed, Cousin A spotted a huntsman spider in the kitchen. It looked enormous to me by the standards of UK spiders (it was about 4 inches across from the end of one leg to the end of another) but I was assured it was harmless (reassuring) and about a half the size of some they see (less reassuring).
