Can The Can

Hard to believe that Suzi Quatro’s first number one hit was fifty years ago. Or that, at the age of 73, she’d still be performing it to a capacity crowd and still putting on the leather jumpsuit to do so!
We went to Manchester to see her perform at Bridgewater Hall last night and were treated to tunes from her sixty odd years career. No support, just Suzi and her band playing for over two hours. Quite a time to have a Fender Jazz Bass hanging around your neck, as I know from experience.
And that bass was not just for show, as she demonstrated what a competent bass player she is throughout the concert, culminating in a rocky bass solo - not the sort of thing that usually goes down well with an audience but, in this case, we were all firmly behind her!
Manchester itself was very busy - it being a Saturday - but we had no problems getting there or back home, though we did have to resort to McDonalds for tea because there wasn’t a hope in hell of getting served in enough time in any of the pubs or restaurants we looked at. We did manage a coffee and a cake in M&S earlier in the afternoon though, and even found time for a bit of retail therapy. Jumpers for both of us from Marks and I got some CDs from HMV, including the reissues of The Beatles “Red” and “Blue” albums. It’s not like I don’t already have them, but these new versions have some different mixes and include the new single “Now and Then” so my OCD meant I had to have them to complete the collection.
With a visit to the gym also fitted in before lunch, yesterday proved to be a really good day all round.
