Maxstoke Castle
This castle is quite local to me and until very recently i didn't even know it was here, the reason is because it is privately owned and not open to the public but as part of the gardens open for charity it opened today. It is not seen from the road and its strange to think i've not known of its being there before. It has been handed down in the family since medieval times, It was built by the 1st earl of Huntingdon in 1345 and is surrounded by a broad moat, i got to see inside part of it to, it has been left as you would expect a castle to look like inside but of course they did have a modern bit to. The castle is unusual that it has survived largely intact.
