Beetles in the Gardens

In Canberra today, we met friends for lunch at the Botanic Gardens Cafe, then went for a wander. The photo is of Plague Soldier Beetles grazing on Cuttsia viburnea. I read that there is no widely accepted common name for this attractive plant, which grows to 15m or so high with masses of white flowers. The flowers produce lots of honey-scented nectar which attracts insects, as was happening here today
