Train Challenge No 5
Taunton Minster, Somerset
With my BC friend, set off from my local station to Bristol to catch a second direct train to Taunton, county town of Somerset. The forecast was for sunshine but we only had grey skies, though it stayed dry.
First stop was Taunton Minster with this amazing ceiling, studded with angels. The church was also home to a lovely café so we stopped for lunch before heading towards Taunton Castle, browsing the shops on the way.
Taunton Castle now houses The Museum of Somerset, a very interesting collection but we didn’t really have time to do it justice (we only had three hours in the town), especially as we wanted to grab cake and a cuppa in the courtyard café, before dashing for the train. Unfortunately just as we reached the platform our train pulled away so we had to take the next train which, rather than going directly to Bristol, stopped at every station en route, meaning we missed our connecting train and got home an hour and a half late.
In extras, various scenes of the Minster, around Taunton and of the Castle and museum.
Train journey time = 1h 48mins
Waiting between trains time = 55mins
Total train journey time = 2h 43mins
All of the above is what happened yesterday, I didn’t have the time or energy to sort my photos yesterday evening. Forgive me. Despite yesterday’s busy day, and another disturbed night’s sleep, today has been a busy day catching up on household chores.
Thank you for all your recent kind stars and hearts.
