Rakiura/ Stewart Island

Today was meant to be a less active day- but I still managed to clock up over 20,000 steps.
Rakiura has many steep streets- not long ones, but steep.. We started the day walking to Observation Rock, which gave us beautiful views over Patterson Inlet, Ulva Island and the jetty we caught our boat from yesterday (extra). An added bonus was the rainbow!
The small cruise ship holds 100 passengers and was on a National Geographic Cruise- thank goodness it wasn’t one of those ghastly huge ones!

We had another great coffee and baking from our favourite cafe before walking a coastal route to Horseshoe Bay- lots of lovely beaches, watched another stroppy sea lion not wanting to share his beach with a family, and enjoyed the undulating coastal bushy track. Jill went on further than me- I was ready to turn back home again.
It was another super day on this wonderful island. We start heading home in the morning.
