Companionship and Cake
It’s been a bright and sunny day. A wonderful interlude between yesterday’s rain and the deluge of wetness forecast for tomorrow. It reminded me of the heart lifting feeling of an early spring day when the world begins to feel alive again.
And so I chose to walk into Emsworth this morning to meet up with the friend who was in touch yesterday. We’ve not chatted properly since March so we had a good few hours drinking tea, eating pastries and catching up. It made me realise how little I do this kind of thing these days and how I wish to do it more.
Later in the day Andy, Merlin and I walked at Prinsted. We did a circular route along by the sea and returned inland so we could pop to the pet shop to buy Merlin a bone. I thought he might enjoy it tomorrow morning if he is stuck inside because of heavy rain.
By the time we finished the light was fading and so we stopped to watch the patterns and colours of the sky reflected on the sea. All was peaceful and still. What a contrast to Monday when we stood here in a storm, the waves crashing over the footpath.
Today I’m grateful for:
- Golden autumn sunshine.
- The company of a friend.
- Redcurrant sponge made with fruit from the allotment - a reminder of summer days.
Wishing you a good weekend.
