Repurposed

Firstly very many thanks for all the positive comments about my book in response to yesterday's Blip.

I heard last night that there is a gravestone made from a granite cheese press in the ' new' kirkyard at Rathen. The old kirkyard features on the book cover.
This morning I went to find the cheese press stone which appears as the main Blip. It is unexpectedly recent - commemorating  Alexander Bisset, a farmer who died in 2001. The inscription 'Abscissa Virescit' is the motto of Clan Bisset and translates as, 'That torn down regrows' which seems appropriate given the nature of the gravestone. It must vie with the grindstone in Mormond kirkyard as being the most unusual gravestone in the district.

The extra shows the 'new' kirk at Rathen which replaced St Etheran's around 1870
