Just for Gayle

I was working at Stockport County today. Pictured with Sue and I is Kelsey, she is one of the nurses seconded to us from the static centre for the next six months. She has only been with NHSBT for a short time, but she is lovely and I like working with her.

I saw a friend, Gayle, put a post on fb that she had been to donate at Norfolk House…I commented that I was ‘shocked’ that she was defecting to the static centre. She laughed and said it was the only place she could get in and would hopefully be back on our sessions next time. But….she was thrilled that the nurse in the centre was Kelsey as Kelsey had nursed her dad before he sadly passed away. It was a lovely reunion and so it was meant to be that she went to the centre instead of with the mobile team. I sent her pic today of the three of us.

Marketing came out this evening to take pics of under 35 year olds and BAME donors…I presume to encourage new donors. They complained there were no windows and it was dark and they couldn’t fulfill the brief on BAME donors. Hmmmmm….maybe they should have done a little research and used some common sense: it was about 5pm and at this time of year it goes dark then! At that time of day windows wouldn’t make a difference, the venue doesn’t have any anyway as they would have found out if they’d checked. Finally, Stockport isn’t going to be the best area for BAME donors. I despair of some departments (they are probably on a higher banding too grrrrr).
